Update. Fixed link.
I think the way everyone has been flooding her email the last few days, Barbara Boxer wanted the chance to speak about the health reform bill we may be about to embark upon. As many of you know, I remain on dial-up, and try to keep my formating for others using the same method. In dial-up format, watching uTube is a lot like watching paint dry. However, For those of you with something faster:
Boxer Speaks on Historic Health Care Bill
If she does a text print of it I’ll send it around later. Otherwise, for those of you with something faster, let me know what she says.

None of the Senators in California (Fienstein and Boxer) are qualifed to vote on a Health Care Bill. What happened to transparency and why are there back room closed door meetings going on with the President Obama? I as many others are Not for this health bill. This is a rush job and the President has NO Right to demand a vote. He is so out of touch with the average person. Just today he stated that his Hawaii vacation rooms for his family are 4 thousand dollars a day. And that does not cover the expense for security that the taxpayers will foot. Then he is treating friends of his to rooms at the same resort. Why is Camp David not good enough for him??? This man has done nothing but waste the hard earned money of the taxpayers from the day he took office and is just like Washington politics as usual. Back door closed deals. Shame of all of them and both you and the senior senator for voting on this horrible bill. Yes we need health reform but not the way this is being handled. I know that neithe of you two semators will have to worry about your future and your health care as WE the people will be taking care of your needs. But come next election, no matter whom are running against you, I for one will vote both of you out. I have read the records and really, do either of you really think you have made a difference for the state of California. You both ignore immigration rules and support ilegals in this state and have done nothing to correct this problem. You both need to be GONE!!!!

Dear Jud
Both Senator Feinstein and Boxer are highly qualified to vote on just about anything the Senate presents, as they have both been doing it a while and were considered qualified when they were elected. We may not agree with the votes they make, but that does not make them unqualified.
While I agree with you on the problems of transparency in the government, particularly as it refers to renditions, torture, “disappearing” people and other aspects, that refer in particular to our “war” effort, I think the recent Republican yowling regarding the health bill secrecy has been overblown. Even with this morning’s vote, the Republicans had 24 hours to review the managers amendment and much more time to review the body of the bill itself.
All of Congress and the public were able to see what is in the proposed health bill, as it is printed and available in the Congressional Record. If you want to look for yourself go to the upper right hand corner of my website, where it says search, type in H.R. 3590, and a list of all my posts with information on the bill will display.
I believe that President Obama is following pretty much what he said he would do when folks voted him in to office. A lot of us just weren’t really listening. Congress is following his mandate and doing what he wanted.
I don’t really care what his rooms in Hawaii cost, because it is after all a state, his home state, he is helping their economy and I see NO difference between that and Reagan going to his San Clemente ranch in California or Bush going to his ranch in Texas. I’m sure he will use Camp David when it is appropriate and finds the need. However, Camp David is recently associated with other presidents such as Clinton and Carter. Maybe he wants to find his own way.
I am not a Senator, so your concerns about how they voted should be directed to them not me. However, I will say that despite my disappointment over today’s health care vote, mostly I think Feinstein and Boxer have done a good job for California.
Finally, I am very tired of the 200 year old blood feud against immigrants. Learn to speak Spanish and Farci or move.

California is, as of estimates in 2009 around 34% caucasian.
Although the Hispanic population is large, there are many other immigrants legal, and not, who have made their way here.
We have Canadian illegals too, but it’s never about them, they don’t seem like the “other”.

I was just using Farci as an example. There are all kinds of immigrants and it can be very hard for us to even know who is illegal. The INS has a backlog of more than 2 years to even get heard. Many people have been following the rules and waiting for 10 years. Secondly, even illegal immigrants contribute to the economy. It’s three part- either we take and do the jobs that people new to this country have traditionally taken, like farm labor and slaughter houses, Seven-Elevens, and taxies, or we close those places down and import a lot more of our food, or we find a way to live with immigration and even illegals.
