So did you see Obama’s first televised  weekly delivery? Needless to say in the interest of modernity, it was on uTube. This means, of course, a whole bunch of us will not have privy to his pearls. If you can watch it, go HERE and send a transcript to the rest of us. In the mean time, he’s chosen more staff members: (more…)

In his second appearance since his own scandal, John Edwards made no effort to get back in the good graces of feminists. What can he be thinking when he allows himself to be pitted against Karl Rove, over Sarah Palin, in a post election discussion for a bunch of ledger keepers in San Francisco? (more…)

Not a Ho!

An American woman has been promoted to four-star general – the first to reach the US army’s highest rank. This is the same rank General George Patton, III, achieved.

What New Hampster SAID.

See, knowing how to multitask is a good thing!  Who else can run the Army’s Materiel Command?

Here is my complaint. There are 43,600,000 references in Google so far about this event; 522,000 call her a female; even Wikipedia.

Look at the list, Kansas City Stat, CNN, LA times, MSNBC,UPI, Washington Post, Miami Herald, etc.

Women are not dogs, they are not a description derived from a police log. Females are not the opposite of men. Females are the first step on the road to Ho’s.

Stop it! STOP IT NOW!!!

Finally, the FDA, with the speed of world traveling planaria, reacts:

US to detain food shipments from China

[…Under the directive, FDA inspectors at U.S. ports of entry will detain foods from China made with milk and certain ingredients derived from milk. Importers must pay to have their products tested by an independent laboratory that meets FDA standards. Only products found to be melamine-free will be allowed into the country.

The order also applies to pet foods and some bulk protein products, the focus of a melamine recall in 2007.

Essentially, the FDA action shifts the burden of proof to Chinese companies, which must now supply evidence that their products are safe. Most consumers should not be affected, since major U.S. food manufacturers get their milk ingredients here.”The FDA should have acted sooner to ban these milk products from entering the country,” said Rep. Rosa DeLauro, chairwoman of a panel that oversees the FDA budget. She urged that egg and fish products also be tested, since melamine has been added to animal feed in China.

“Clearly, the problems involving melamine in China are significantly deeper than FDA would have us believe,” DeLauro said….]

I’m thinking this was well timed, since no one is buying anything anyway.

The World Economic Forum says women and girls are reportedly near parity in education, but not power!

Women Gain in Education but Not Power, Study Finds

By REUTERS

Published: November 12, 2008

[GENEVA (Reuters) — Women still lag far behind men in top political and decision-making roles, though their access to education and health care is nearly equal, the World Economic Forum said Wednesday.

In its 2008 Global Gender Gap report, the forum, a Swiss research organization, ranked Norway, Finland and Sweden as the countries that have the most equality of the sexes, and Saudi Arabia, Chad and Yemen as having the least….]

“We are each other’s business: we are each other’s magnitude and bond.”

Gwendolyn Brooks

While the ACLU fights the good fight regarding Afghan and Iraq prisoner abuse, other things are happening in Afghanistan. Those concerned with human rights must turn their attention to events of a different but equally serious nature. (more…)

oceancitygirl reported over at the Confluence today, the following herstoric accomplishment as noted in the Nashua Telegraph:

After the Nov. elections, another historic milestone was reached (even though hardly anyone is reporting on it) in NH: The New Hampshire Senate has become the first state legislative body in the country with a majority-female membership. Hooray!

Nashua Telegraph

Please note: the Telegraph page loaded oddly for me. It appeared to be blank with ads on the side. However, when I scrolled a long ways down I found it.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton

(1815 – 1902)

[“Oh my daughter, I wish you were a boy!” her father said, grieving at the death of his only son. Young Elizabeth vowed to prove him wrong. She worked hard to excel in Greek, Latin, and mathematics, and obtained the finest education then available to women at Troy Female Seminary. When she married Henry Stanton, an activist in the anti-slavery cause, the word “obey” was omitted from the ceremony at her insistence….]
