The FEC reports that the US Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, on November 12th, affirmed Pennsylvannia’s Court decision regarding Berg V Barack Obama, et al. For all the documentation regarding this, go HERE.

Lest you have forgotten, this case attempted to present evidence regarding Obama’s ineligibility to run for and serve as  president, However, the lower court determined that Berg was not personally injured, and therefore had no standing to bring the suit.

Having taken a brief gander a the appeals court’s opinion, as a non expert, it looks like Berg’s suit was a mess. See what you think.

WAPO is commemorating Veteran’s Day, with an article on Tammy Duckworth and the new generation at the VA.

Today’s Christian Science Monitor’s article discusses new attempts to help homeless vets. I have to say I don’t think there has been this much Federal activity in this direction since Governor Reagan. You may remember him. He’s the one that did so much in aid of the population’s growth in CA when he shut down thousands of hospital beds as a cost cutter.

President Obama was busy speechifying at Arlington, as he did yesterday in Fort Hood, Texas.

New Hampshire’s Peterboro, the company that has been making USAn made baskets since 1854, is offering a few patriotically themed baskets in celebration of Veterans Day. You know the ones; they make picnic, pie and bicycle baskets.

My hometown is having a parade in just a few minutes, and I’ve been searching for my display flag, the one my mother gave me, all day. I haven’t been able to find it since we packed a few things into storage.

Elsewhere around the Bay area, these VA events are happening.

ABC has reported that President Obama will fight the release of additional detainee abuse photos, that the ACLU has requested.

 See the ACLU’s response HERE.

Yah, why release more proof of your miscreant behavior, when you or someone in Congress might get sued for it….

And, all this on the heels of Philip Zelikow’s  testimony to the Senate Hearing Committee today.

Last week amendment S4980-4984, a bill submitted to prevent mortgage foreclosures and enhance mortgage credit availability, was defeated by this cast of characters. Senator Barbara Boxer had this to say:

Mortgage Modification Amendment Would Have Helped 385,000 California Homeowners Facing Foreclosure

Thursday, April 30, 2009

[Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today spoke on the Senate floor in favor of an amendment that would have helped millions of at-risk homeowners avoid foreclosure by allowing bankruptcy judges to modify mortgage terms for primary residences.

Currently, bankruptcy judges are able to modify terms on loans for vacation homes, automobiles and other assets.  The measure, sponsored by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), failed by a vote of 45 to 51…]

NAFTA

Umm Humm!

If you are on dial up and can’t download the accompanying UTube, refresh your memory with the text of the Ohio debate HERE. While I don’t agree with Dixon’s comments on HRC and NAFTA, I do agree that Obama used her comments to his advantage.

I still think the primary debates that were televised on “pay-for” TV were lost to a large portion of the public.

Department of Broken Promises: Obama Closes Door on NAFTA Renegotiation

By BAR Managing Editor Bruce A. Dixon

[During the campaign Barack Obama’s campaign deliberately led supporters to imagine he favored the reopening of the wildly unpopular North American Free Trade Agreement, which most agree has cost millions of jobs, driven down wages in the U.S. and Mexico, increased the gap between rich and poor and driven millions of Mexican farmers off the land, into cities and to the U.S.  But reports from the Canadian press were confirmed by the White House yesterday.  Obama has no intention of renegotiating NAFTA….]

Check out “Swine Flu” at the Wiki link HERE. It’s particularly interesting to note that most of the flu strains we know today can be traced to the big pandemic that occurred in 1918-1919. Nature is an opportunist and her life is always evolving.

Few sign up to farm abandoned land

By EARTHA JANE MELZER 4/27/09 12:13 PM

[The Michigan Land Bank is offering to lease around 8,000 tax-reverted parcels to people who want to start gardens, but so far few have taken advantage of the program. According to Carrie Lewand-Monroe, executive director of the Michigan Land Bank, only around eight parcels have been leased through the Garden for Growth program. The program is intended to enhance access to affordable fresh foods. Parcels can be leased for 50 dollars per year. About 7,000 of the 8,000 available parcels are located in Wayne Co., Lewand-Monroe said.

A searchable database of available land can be found on the website of Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth…]

Ok, I’m officially bored with the Blagojevich/Burris story. DiFi said and did the right thing, seeing as how she was running the Rules Committee till her recent switch to chair the Intelligence Committee. Obama isn’t part of the Legislative body, since he started over to the Executive branch and gave up his Senate Seat. So, The One can have one opinion, or the opposite, but he doesn’t get to decide. Reid stuck his neck out too early, and White is slipping and sliding. I don’t care. Another one who may have a legitimate gripe should have made a bigger stink earlier. Now, it just looks badly planned and icky.

Over.

Done.

Let him in and let’s get on with it.

Then, just now Illinois impeaches Blagojevich by a vote of 114 to one present vote. Doe everyone remember what that means?  Impeachment is an indictment, NOT conviction of wrongdoing.

Even the timing on that looks suspicious, because of Currie’s comments:

But he did not testify before the House impeachment committee and has not offered an explanation for the federal charges.

“His silence in this great matter is deafening,” said House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie, a Chicago Democrat.

Well, duh! If he is under federal investigation, he’s not going to go spilling his guts in the Illinois Senate. Whether the charges are true or not, that would be foolish. Does anyone think ALL who are pointing fingers and yelling “J’accuse!” are blameless and not using this event to get something? Just darn tiring how Democrats are chewing on each other. You got to ask yourself what’s the purpose and which rats will win.

Still bored.

And much more interested in whether women will get some rights back today.

No texting! Just last year, the new California law went into effect prohibiting us from talking on our cell phones and driving concomitantly. We drove over the border, from Reno in July, on the day the last law went into effect, CHP’s were everywhere and had lines of people pulled over. However, had CA forgotten to include all those obsessive texters in that law.The state has now corrected that oversight. So, be prepared as you are driving across state lines for New Years.
