First a little background information:
Elizabeth Ames Jones, a Repub, has filed for Kay Bailey Hutchison’s Senate seat.
Wiki says:
[…In an interview with Texas Monthly, Hutchison said she would not seek re-election after this term and may leave as early as 2009, to allow a new senator to build seniority before the 2012 election. If she is elected governor in 2010, a temporary appointment will be made by the governor..]
The Austin Statesman reported today the following tidbit:
Elizabeth Ames Jones filed candidacy for U.S. Senate before Election Day

Elizabeth Ames Jones, a Republican member of the Texas Railroad Commission, has filed paperwork in Washington declaring her candidacy for the U.S. Senate.
Jones, who had been saying she was open to the Senate prospect, says on her filing that she’s running in 2012. That’s the year Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s seat will be open if she doesn’t resign before then. Hutchison, who’s looking into a 2010 run for governor, has said she won’t resign any earlier than the end of next year. If she does quit early, and depending on her timing, Gov. Rick Perry would appoint an interim senator and set a special election to election someone to serve out her term.
Intriguingly, Jones filed a form with the Federal Eiections Commission declaring her intentions before this year’s Nov. 4 election. But she hasn’t announced any intentions publicly. Peek at the filing here.
I’m trying to reach her for elaboration.
Wondering who she is? Vince Leibowitz did a little research on her in 2005 and it’s over at Burnt Orange .

Capitol Annex is trying to discover whether her announcement has triggered Texas’s “resign to run law” They’ll have up dates HERE.
This all looks pretty well planned to me! Here it is, a Repub woman attempting to replace another Repub woman. Democrats?
