[A legislative investigation has concluded that Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power in pushing for the firing of an Alaska state trooper who was once married to her sister, or by failing to prevent her husband Todd from doing so.
The report by investigator Steve Branchflower was made public late this afternoon by a bipartisan 12-0 vote of the Legislative Council, which authorized the investigation….]
At least 12 people who were subpoenaed did not testify, or their testimonies were not added to the report.
In addition, there was discussion over an apparent gap in the law which disallows information to citizen complainants during investigations, leading to frustration and for these complainants. Whether related to the governor or not, the law should find some way to provide.
The report concludes Palin was within her rights to let Police Chief Monegan, go.
Concern about nepotism and Todd Palin’s reputed involvement seems a factor, but not clearly deliniated as the the actual offense. Seems he was quite the buzzing mosquito. I’m no lawyer but the whole thing seems murky and overblown. The chief and supervisors responses do appear pretty underwhelming. After all this the Monegan wants her to sign Wooton’s picture?
As was noted in the article, “It’s the politcal season”. I don’t think this is over.
