Syria Protests Alleged US Raid on Syrian Border Town

[Syrian officials are protesting a raid on the Syrian border village of Sukkariya, summoning the U.S. and Iraqi Charge d’affaires in Damascus. Syria says U.S. forces conducted the raid, and that eight people were killed and 14 wounded. Edward Yeranian reports from Cairo.
A Syrian government spokesman called the raid “a crime and an act of aggression,” claiming U.S. forces attacked a civilian building that was under construction. The building was about seven kilometers into Syrian territory, near the border post of Bu Kamel….]
Shoemaker reports a 42% increase in feed cost last year to feed Butterball turkeys. He blames “The Renewable Fuels Standard” I see this as ominous. Even though fuel prices are falling now, OPEC is reducing production. So the possibility of a rebound exists. On a personal note, if you have a freezer, look for the sales on your thanksgiving turkey.

Forget, for moment, the insane building of miles of tract McMansions, with less yard than house. Disregard the idiocy of building on wetlands and flooding delta and the millions spent in the dismantling of logical regional planning. Think about water. Whenever I drive through my liberal county, Solano, or the nearby Napa and Sonoma counties, I am disturbed by the raging monopolistic monoculture of that ode to alcoholism, the grape. The once charming local industry, mixed with McIntosh apples, olives and oranges, local beef, chickens, dairy and turkeys is holistic no longer. How to address this mess?
Why is “The Environment” not on the ballot?

In the October 13th edition HCN reviewed western ballot measures. This year there apparently are only a few “environmental” measures on western ballots and at least one of these – the California initiative on “green measures” – is actually anti-environmental. I don’t know about you but I find this troubling. In a national election year in which Democrats are expected to do exceptionally well in the West, one would expect green groups to try moving their agendas forward via the initiative process.

Here is an interesting way to look at the “Economic Crisis”.
Check out the US Treasury Department. They are churning money just as fast as they can.
To find a list of the auction results for securities from the US Treasury from Sept 1 thru today go HERE.
Click on the Go button next to the link that says “All Treasury Securities” by auction date. Assign Sept 1st to the “from” links and Viola! You should have three pages of 60 auctions done in less than two months. Wow! Two years ago, I’d see maybe ten per month.
You should see a whole lot of short-term odd length dates for these items. Several are labeled “Cash Management”, though I’d venture a guess that most are. Click on the serial numbered id links of each line and you will information on how much money was tendered.
