Why government statistics are a better thing than this, and we go ’round in circles.

-Update: apparently Paul Sniderman was involved in at least helping to score the survey. It still isn’t clear whether he helped develop it, although he has ages of experience in teaching race relations. His name runs back to the Clinton years with his first book, “The Scar of Race” published in 1993.-

Riverdaughter has a good blog on her view of the recent AP Yahoo survey pontificated upon in Politico. She refers to Politico’s take in the link below:

The AP is working for the Republicans

Posted on September 21, 2008 by riverdaughter

[How else do we explain the AP-Yahoo study that purports to show that one third of Democrats will not vote for Obama because of his race.  Only 59% of Clintonistas will vote for Obama (Really?  We’ve been that successful?!  Alright! {{high-fives all around}}).  So there must be a correlation between the reluctance of these former Hillary people and their prejudices….]

I just had to cross post this reminiscence on feminism from Dr. Socks:

SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2008

How did we go from Tomato Nation’s “Yes, You Are” to this?

Five years ago, Tomato Nation published a post that rapidly became legend. It was emailed, re-posted, printed out, probably even framed somewhere. Maybe you remember it. It was called “Yes, You Are.”

Here it is:

The USA is currently unable to democratically elect a presidential candidate!

Voting has already begun in places like Virginia, and other states are still trying to register voters, yet we are just getting ready to have our first debate on Friday between McCain and Obama. I turn your attention to this recent article:

High Turnout, New Procedures May Mean an Election Day Mess

What Gary Said:

Vote, or risk having your vote stolen

Posted on September 20, 2008 by garychapelhill

[I sincerely believe that Obama for America intends to try to steal the presidential election, just as George W. Bush did in 2000.  Obama’s track record proves that he has absolutely zero integrity and an utter disregard for democratic prinicples.  That is the primary reason that I do not support him and think that he would be a danger to our country, and perhaps put the final nail in the coffin of our democratic process.  People like Bush and Obama want to make voters irrelevant.  They care only about the corporate vote, which is cast not with a ballot, but with a greenback.]

Registration

If you need to register to vote, contact your State, City or County Elections Board. A voter registration with either party’s candidate puts you in their databank. If you register in the field with one of the partisan groups, (more…)

The FDA is not finding evidence of melamine contaminated infant formula thus far in the USA. However, note at the bottom of the statement they are also now checking into milk derived products generally, in asian markets. If you know anyone who shops asian, let them know. For myself, I’d be wondering about the “finished food products” like maybe cookies? Almond Pudding? CHECK THE LABELS! On the other hand, in some asian products, that’s no guarantee either. (more…)

I’m crossposting this article from chinaview because it is so important.  It is in line with the recent FDA warning to beware of infant formula in Asian markets. The facts now are that this was going on at the same time we had melamine related pet deaths in the United States. Be sure and click on the link below to read the entire article:

Three year cover up in China milk scandal

Posted by chinaview on September 19, 2008

The Radio Australia, September 19, 2008-

[Reports in the Chinese media suggest the company at the centre of a contaminated milk scandal knew it had a problem as far back as 2005.

Our correspondent Kerri Ritchie reports, more than 6,000 children in China are sick and four babies have died after drinking milk laced with melamine.

Chinese media is reporting dairy company Sanlu knew its products were contaminated three years ago but kept quiet.

Sanlu’s chairwoman has been sacked along with a number of government officials.

New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra part-owns Sanlu.

Fonterra knew about the crisis six weeks before it went public.

New Zealand trade minister Phil Goff doesn’t believe Fonterra’s representatives at Sanlu should be arrested but he says Fonterra should learn some lessons.

“China is a market of huge opportunity but it’s also a market which operates quite differently from New Zealand,” he said.

Fonterra says it’s now doing all it can to make things right.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government quality watchdog says nearly 10 per cent of milk samples taken from top Chinese dairy companies was contaminated by melamine….]

McCain/GOP ‘Voter Caging’ Underway in Florida

Local Democratic Party Chair Seems Clueless About Republican Attempt to Disenfranchise His Voters…

From the St. Petersburg Times…

[…The mailings sent to registered Democrats appear to be classic “caging” letters, marked as “Do Not Forward”, so that they will then be returned to the GOP if there is any problem with delivery. Those returned letters will likely then be used as a basis to challenge the legitimacy of those particular voters on Election Day….

The first-class GOP mailing has a “Do not forward” instruction on the envelope, meaning they will be returned to the GOP if a recipient has had mail forwarded, perhaps to a summer address, or has moved. (more…)

PUMAS YES! JEROME CORSI NO!

“Just the place for a Snark” the Bellman Cried,

as he landed his crew with care;

Supporting each man on top of the tide

By a finger entwined in his hair.

The Hunting of the Snark- Lewis Carroll

Recently on BlogTalk Radio My-Two-Cents, the subject of Jerome Corsi came up again. So here is my view: Jerome Corsi is a right winged rabid bat bigoted sexist hatemonger that should be netted and succumb to his disease before he infects anyone else.

The longer you let a rabid bat feed, the more he infects. THEREFORE, DO NOT BUY HIS BOOK! DO NOT SUPPORT THE INFECTION OF FUTURE GENERATIONS! I’m not saying don’t read it. It’s always good to know the enemy. Just go to the library, or borrow it from one of those who succumbed and didn’t know his history. I know that I am probably giving the Free Republic a jolly just because they think this kind of thing is good advertisement. Here goes anyway. (more…)

Democrats- John McCain gets something and you still don’t!

Not hooked up, in line, beaming in, or otherwise whiz banged? The McCain Campaign has been sending a message. Just like Clinton did, McCain has been putting out campaign ads for the last two weeks to the folks with regular TV.

You know who those folks are, the 30-40% of the population, who get up early in the morning to watch the news, the folks who can’t afford the extras, or just don’t like to pay for what’s offered, the folks who are worried about the economy and VOTE?

They’ve been running these ads in my neighborhood. We are near Travis Air Force Base, in California. Except for Clinton’s and the local runs, we NEVER get campaign ads.

We aren’t even a contested state, are we?

Get involved today! Be a Poll Worker or a Poll Monitor!

An interesting kerfluffle has arisen in Michigan. No doubt the Obama campaign had an ulterior motive in picking Michigan. After all, they have a lot of PR work to do in making up for their own delegate theft. That Michigan might turn out to be one of the battleground states, makes the stakes all the higher. So recently this little tidbit came out:

Former GOP operative explains why Republicans will use foreclosure lists to block voters

Unfair but “probably” legal, using foreclosure lists provides a cheap and effective strategy for McCain campaign (more…)
