Something must be wrong.
I don’t know what, the direction maybe.
Some mistake, but what, has been made,
but when and where wrong,
especially since everything’s been running like
clockwork,
though in a direction
That signs demonstrate to be wrong.
Now we are looking for the source of error.
Frantically looking for it outside ourselves,
Until someone says we,
We, could all of us, just for the sake of argument, be
the source of error, yes,
it could be you or you , or you.
We don’t mean it personally.
Each gives the next man precedence.
While everything is running like clockwork
In the wrong direction,
Which even if it’s wrong said to be
The only one, men greet
Each other and cry:
I am the source of error; you too?
Seldom had there been such consensus.
No one asks any longer where, what and when
a mistake was made.
Nor does anyone ask about
guilt or guilty parties.
For after all we know that each of us.
Contentedly as never before we all run
In the wrong direction, follow the signs,
Hoping that they’re wrong
And we’re saved again.

“The Rat” by Günter Grass
Yeah well, that pretty much sums up how I feel about our tentative bailout.
Here is a NYT link with a PDF draft of the plan for the public’s review. I’ll be reading it tonight. What about YOU?
