BANGKOK – Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration immediately pulled six dairy products from stores’ shelves nationwide Thursday in order to examine possible contamination with an industrial chemical, melamine, blamed for sickening tens of thousands of infants and killing at least four in China.

Five per cent of babies in Shanghai have been taken ill in China’s tainted milk scandal, say city health officials. As many as 10,000 children aged under three have symptoms of kidney stones, they say.
