I could tell when I perused the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post last evening that things are getting pretty heated in Colorado. Worried Obots and other oddballs were leaving comments all over the article pages. So I wasn’t surprised to find this: (more…)

CNA Goes Ageist!

As a force to be reckoned with, the California Nurses Association (CNA) is formidable. Ask Arnold. The organization advocates universal healthcare, based on a single payer system, and improved and expanded Medicare. These are all nicely progressive ideas with which, as a Democrat, I agree, although Obama does not.
In addition, they are actively campaigning for a similar solution: HR 676 in Congress, and SB 840 in California. (more…)

The Face of a Bail Out
Lost in the shuffle over the bail out bill passage was the fact that it actually had another name. The bill was attached to the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health and Parity Act. The passage of this act is important, as noted on the Wellstone Website:
[…The Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 is a major step forward to end discrimination in insurance coverage for people with mental illness and substance abuse disorders….]
Read their history to see why. http://www.wellstone.org/

Thoughts on the VPOTUS Debate.

What did you learn about the candidates’ platforms Thursday night?
McClatchy reported that the VPOTUS debate viewer pool was 70 million; 40% larger than the POTUS debate. That the previous debate between McCain and Obama was reportedly the least watched ever televised is astounding, considering the ferment this election cycle has created.
I found I had to agree with the comments made on the Bill Moyer Show last night. None of the POTUS or VPOTUS candidates have yet really addressed how the current economic crisis has affected their platforms. Perhaps, it really is too early, but it is disconcerting to recognize once again that the solons we choose sometimes have no better crystal ball than we. (more…)

Cell Phone Registry?!##

This morning I received an e-mail from my husband indicating that the cell phone list was about to go public and that I should sign up for the list or risk having to pay for unsolicited calls. Apparently this e-mail was making the rounds at his company.
Now I remember this kind of scam from a couple of years ago. This one got me wondering. Sure enough, there is only one list. Cell and other phones are combined.
However, the response phone number listed, and the website appeared legitimate. I don’t know what is going on which this e-mail, unless it is a Trojan horse. DO NOT RESPOND!
If you want to sign any phone to the registry, Go HERE, to the Federal Trade Commission. There is no time limit.
